crazy, crazy turn of events...

I'm going to India. For FREE. NEXT WEEK!!!

My, oh my, where to even begin?

Some of you may know that I was planning to visit Selaqui for Christmas & possibly overlap with my friends, the Wilbanks, on their adoption trip (to pick up their daughter, Bella). I was about to buy my plane ticket, but took this week to think/pray/wait, as those timings are impossible to "plan"-- it would kinda have to be GOD.

Well... yesterday I got a phone call from a church friend, Lesley, who is going on a mission trip to India. Her other friend/teammate had to drop out at the last minute, leaving an open spot to fill (and she cannot go by herself). So... Lesley called to see if I wanted to go. For free. On Friday.

Umm, really, God?!?!

To make it a bit more complicated though, Indian visa rules require two months out of country before re-entry. Which means, were I to go with Lesley, I could not turn around and go back again in Nov/Dec as I'd planned. My alternative is to STAY! So... I am adjusting my dates to go with Lesley and split afterwards to visit Selaqui, until HOPEFULLY I can connect with the adoption trip (November?) and fly home with the Wilbanks family & Bella!!!

I obviously was NOT anticipating this, and it does throw off some October plans... like the "Running for Bella" marathon. Ha! (To those of you who have already given support, I do promise to run a marathon for Bella, even if it is not in Atlanta on October 30th. Who knows? Maybe it will become "Running WITH Bella"...!!!)

But, my "plans" aside, I cannot deny that God is dropping this opportunity in my lap... and it seems like I should take it! (I mean, really, when was the last time you were offered an all-expense-paid trip to India?!) It's both humbling and thrilling to watch Him work in such clear ways-- unexpectedly, and in spite of ME. (When we are faithless, He is still faithful, for He cannot deny Himself!) All I can do is just laugh and keep walking through these crazy doors that He's opening. Only God!!

So... that's the scoop. Stay tuned!
